Currently June

It's a new month.  Which means it's time to link up with Farley for Currently.

Listening

Everyday I unwind by firing up my Roku and watching some shows while I work.  I'm so happy I got the Roku on my last trip home.  Now I have no excuse to not be working on the computer and watching my shows at the same time.

Loving

How productive I have been lately.  It's still a far cry from all the things I need to knock off my to do list but I'm in a good groove right now.

Thinking

Just like every single Currently I am thinking about that gosh darn to do list. I love lists but crossing things off seems to be a problem.  We only had 6 students come to class today and admin moved their last day up to this Thursday because of low attendance throughout the school.  This means no lesson plans for next week and energy to accomplish that list when I'm home from work.  :)

Wanting

I really, really, really (did I mention really?) want to go to the TPT conference this summer.  I had to miss out on last summer but I went the year before last (I Teach K - the TPT conference was just an idea....but I did meet Paul and Amy in a small blogger meet up).  Anyway, I need new inspiration and would love to catch up with my online friends and meet new ones.  My work contract goes until July 9th (did I mention I'm about a 20 hour flight away from Vegas) so it's complicated to try to get there on time.

Needing

A new computer oh so bad.  I was supposed to treat myself at Christmas but it didn't happen.  Now that I spend more time on my laptop I really need a bigger screen to stare at.  Any recommendations?

Summer Lovin'

So far my summer plans include traveling home to the states to see my family and have them get to know my daughter.  She's turning one this August!  That was a fast year!  I would also like to plan a quick stop over mini-vacay in another place before returning to the UAE but it might not work out. It's so hard only seeing my family twice a year I feel super guilty when I cut my time short with them to do something else.  If anyone has any travel tips for traveling internationally, alone, with an eleven-month old please let me know!

I can't wait to read what everyone else is currently up to.  Head on over to Farley's blog to check them out too.  She's also collecting donations to the animals in Wimberly.  Even a dollar can go a long way to help.

  1. I think of my to do list every time I do a Currently too.. it's refreshing for me in a way :) I wish I could go to Vegas, but maybe next year or the year after! To meet my friends would be AMAZING (and probably a lot for me to handle, haha) Great Currently :) I am sure your 11 month old is super cute!

    1. Laura, thanks for stopping by my blog. My sister's name is Laura. And yes, my little one is super adorable but I'm very biased.

  2. I just bought a 15inch MacBook Pro in November. I LOVE IT! It will help you start to cross things off that to do list! I hope to attend the Vegas Conference someday too! Maybe in the next year or two? Good luck with travels this summer!

    1. I've been thinking of switching to a Mac. I've never heard anyone say they hate it once they've tried. Does your MacBook travel well? I always bring mine on those long plane rides back home.

  3. You need to share your tips for being so productive! My to do list is long and each project takes twice as long as I plan. I'd love to hear how you're getting it all done! :)

    1. I don't know that I'm getting it all done. I'm just actually working on things so I feel productive and accomplished. One thing I just did was make myself a super cute (if I do say so myself) Weekly To Do planner page that I've laminated and use with post-its to help organize myself. I have it on my list to put it as a freebie here on the blog (I tried figuring out Facebook freebies but it's so not happening for me right now) so check back by the weekend and that will be on there to help.

Another thing I'm starting is to set specific days for tasks. For example, maybe Monday is for Instagram and Tuesday for Pinterest and Wednesday for blogging. I haven't quite set the schedule yet so today I got lost for hours looking at Pinterest and other blogs instead of working on a project I promised myself I'd finish today. Oops.

  4. I share your agony! I was soo looking forward to going to the conference but i just couldn't get it to work, we are still in school here until the end of july, between prices being ridiculously high to get there and i would be so jet lagged the week later in work it just didn't work for me either! boohoo!! But i am definitely going to look at going next year and booking some time off for it!! I have the Macbook Air, i bought it last year when holiday-ing in LA. I love it!! I could never go back to my Laptop now it's so much easier to make resources, they look better, its so light and i just love it!!

    1. Yes, those flight prices can be ridiculous. Luckily the cost is off-set for me by my employer as part of my employment package for teaching overseas. You are the second recommendation for a Mac and I've been thinking about switching for some time. Maybe now is the time.

    1. Sharing computers is the worst! You are welcome for the donation. I miss my dogs so it was great to help out.
